Play with deer at Nara Park, visit temples and shrines in Kyoto on a full-day bus tour from Osaka. Start your day in Kyoto, visiting Nijo Castle, the glowing Temple of the Golden Pavilion, Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and the famous Kyoto Imperial Palace! Enjoy a delicious lunch before making your way to the idyllic town of Nara. Nara is a place saturated with stories of mythology, spirits, and Gods. Gaze at Todaiji Temple, home of the world's largest statue of Great Buddha. Stroll with the 1,200 deer of the Nara Deer Park, said to be the celestial messengers of the Gods who reside in Kasuga Grand Shrine.

  • Any cancellations made between 8 business days (18:00 local time) to 2 business days (18:00 local time) prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 30% of the total amount.
  • Any cancellations made between 2 business days (18:00 local time) to 1 business days (18:00 local time) prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 40% of the total amount.
  • Any cancellations made between 1 business days (18:00 local time) to 1 hours prior to the activity start time will be subject to a charge of 50% of the total amount.
  • Any cancellations made after 1 hours prior to the activity will be subject to a charge of 100% of the total amount.

Restrictions

  • Children (ages 0-5 years) will be able to participate for free under the following conditions. Tour: An individual seat will not be provided. Please have them sit on the lap of their parent or guardian. If there are seats available, they are welcome to use it, however they will not be getting a priority in seating. An individual meal or snack will not be provided as well. If you would like any of the above for children (ages 0-5 years), please book them as a child.

Additional Notes

  • Public transportation will be used for the trip between Osaka - Kyoto, and Nara - Osaka. Please note that seating may not be available.
  • Nara Nagomikan may be omitted from the itinerary if it is closed on the day of the tour, or as a result of traffic congestion.
  • Lunch will be Japanese/Western buffet style. During the period from Jan. 5 to Mar. 11, a one-plate lunch may be served depending on the number of participants.
  • Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed to the public on the following days. During these times, Kitano Tenmangu Shrine will be visited instead. Mondays, Tuesday if Monday is a national holiday, May 14-17 for the Aoi Festival, New Year holidays, and Imperial Household events.
  • The tour will visit Nishi Hongan-ji Temple instead of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine on February 25, March 25 and November 25, 2019 and May 25, 2020.
  • Nijo Castle is closed on Tuesdays in January, July, August, and December. (Closed on the following day if Tuesday is a holiday.) If closed, or if the tour is during the year-end/New Year's holidays, Ryoan-ji Temple will be visited instead.
  • At Kasuga Taisha Shrine, the tour will not enter areas requiring admission.

Gather at Hotel Granvia Osaka and walk to Osaka Station. Board a rapid service train to Kyoto Station (non-reserved seating). Walk to AVANTI Sunrise Tours Desk( Kyoto Sta. Hachijo Exit.).

Nijo Castle
The grounds consist of two concentric rings of fortification, the Honmaru (main circle of defense) and the Ninomaru (secondary circle of defense), along with beautiful gardens and various support buildings.

Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion)
A gorgeous Zen temple, the top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf and surrounded by one of the most exquisite Muromachi Period gardens in the area.

Kyoto Imperial Palace (All Days Except Mondays)
Located within the beautiful gardens of Kyoto Gyoen, this architectural beauty was the residence of the Emperor of Japan until 1869. *Closed on Mondays except when Monday is a national holiday. The following Tuesday will be closed instead.

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (Mondays and Days when Imperial Palace is Closed)
This shrine's main hall is a designated national treasure and is famous for housing the God of scholarship. The shrine is especially beautiful during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons.

Japanese/Western-style Lunch
Relax and refuel for the afternoon's adventures with a Japanese/Western-style buffet. From Jan 5 - Mar 11 a one-plate lunch may be served depending on the number of participants.

Bus from Kyoto to Nara
Board the bus and be whisked off to Nara.

Nara Park and Todaiji Temple
Todaiji Temple is one of the largest wooden buildings in the world, housing a 15m bronze Buddha. Nara Park is a place of scenic beauty, there are over 1,200 deer who roam freely throughout the park.

Kasuga Taisha Shrine
This Nara Period shrine Shinto shrine dates back to 768 and is known for its numerous bronze and stone lanterns. The deer are thought to be shrine messengers!

Splurge at Nara's biggest souvenir shop, which sells a vast variety of tasty treats, sweets, and goods exclusive to Nara.
